Skin Perfector: SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF and Hydrating B5 Gel

In Skincare on August 7, 2011 at 2:05 am

Here is my two latest purchase in skincare category: SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF and Hydrating B5 Gel. I’ve already tried the Essential CE Ferulic. The result was surprisingly great. I confess to appreciate serum a lot, especially summer and winter, but now I use serum all over the year. The CE Ferulic used alone is fantastic yet, it rapidly made me understand that something is missing. After searching in magazines and talking with friends who work in fashion area, I heard about the Hydrating B5 Gel which must be applied after the CE Ferulic. As I need a new serum, instead of repurchasing the CE Ferulic, I decided to opt for the Phloretin CF.

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF and Hydrating B5 GelLet’s begin with the Phloretin CF. Like the CE Ferulic, this product is made to protect your skin against environmental damages. However, Phloretin CF is announced to be a new class of preventive and corrective topical antioxidant treatment, according to SkinCeuticals.

Phloretin acid is new and has been discovered by SkinCeuticals so it will be hard to find in other serums. It is combined with Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid. Phloretin CF prevent your skin from free radicals as well as the range of other reactive molecules known to cause damage and DNA mutations among the integral cell types. Phloretin CF can also corrects existing damage by stimulating the synthesis of essential proteins and fibers and accelerating cell turnover.

So I gave it a try. The result is for now amazing. I must confess that I have normal to combination skin, a little bit sensitive yet tends to be dehydrated, particularly the dry area of my face. Then, I warmly recommend to use an antioxydant treatment from August/September (after having profiting from sun) to prevent sun damage. Yes it’s cool to be tanned but sun is one of skin’s best enemies, for sure. To prepare fall, the best way is to adopt an antioxydant treatment. Yes but the result can be really improved if you combine with another serum. Here comes Hydrating B5 Gel that I had dreamed to test. Hydrating B5 Gel contains ProVitamine B5, commonly known as Panthenol, also Hyaluronic Acid to replenish nutrients your skin needs to face environmental damage and prevent future signs of aging. It is also announced to boost your complexion — especially if you have dehydrated skin. If you’re insomniac, I warmly recommend to use an antioxidant — be it the Essential CE Ferulic or Phloretin CF depending on your type of skin or course — in combination with Hydrating B5 Gel. They seriously refresh your skin. I mean they refresh my skin. Both Phloretin CF and Hydrating B5 Gel have wonders for my skin.

I only apply 4 drops of Phloretin CF to my dry face, neck and chest (only the morning after cleansing to follow the directions) and follow with Hydrating B5 Gel applying 3-5 drops (I confess 5 drops), and a moisturizer and a sunscreen (because of Phloretin CF which contains Vitamin C). Hydrating B5 Gel can be used with no antioxydant treatment. In this case, just apply 3-5 drops with your fingers on your face, neck and chest and follow with your moisturizer. I use it morning and night after cleansing my face.

My love affair with Nuxe Body Scrub

In Skincare on August 4, 2011 at 12:57 am

What a surprise!! I am visiting Vogue Italia website. Vogue Italia is probably one of my favorite vogue for its editorial strategy and contents. Here is another interview — this time no video — of founder of Nuxe, Aliza Jabès. A French girl who loves taking care of our skin.

Nuxe founder Aliza Jabès

As reported on Vogue Italia, Aliza Jabès has a strong passion for vegetable world and phythotherapy. For Aliza Jabès, Nuxe is the perfect combination of richness and simplicity, apparently thanks to her parents. She advices a good moisturizing cream makes skin hydrated, refined, luminous, keeping it young-looking.

Let’s move onto one product that I deeply appreciate. I’ve already tested Nuxe products and I truly and particularly love its body scrub. My body skin is very (and I insist) sensitive. So I am very strict when choosing a body scrub. This creamy Nuxe body scrub is one is perfect with its delicious odor.

Nuxe Body Scrub

This creamy body scrub gently exfoliates my skin. It contains among others orange zest, Lichee stone extracts, and walnut shell powder. Also sunflower, corn and coconut, almond and orange flower petals. As a result, my skin is soft and refined. Maybe if it contains products like Shea Butter my skin will be happier. Anyway.

Nuxe Body Scrub is available for $23.

Crème de la Mer The Eye Concentrate

In Skincare on May 10, 2011 at 11:57 am

A friend of mine gave me a small amount of this Crème de la Mer The Eye Concentrate because I wanted to test it before buying.

Crème de la Mer The Eye Concentrate is an ultraluxe eye treatment that dissolves the appearance of lins and wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness, according to Crème de la Mer. I do not have any wrinkle or lines, but I daily battle against dark circle because I do not sleep a lot. I know and my family and friends repeat me to sleep at least 8 hours which I don’t. Anyway, I was happy to test it and I definitively love it. It is important to dab a small amount and gently sweep onto the eye area à-la-japonaise — a Japanese friend of mine always asks me to be more gentle, more delicate with my face.

Crème de la Mer The Eye Concentrate

This precious Eye Concentrate is expensive, I can understand. Yet, believe me, it’s so lovely, soft; it’s like a veil of protection on your eye contour. As I daily do makeup, it protects my eyes from exterior agression (in French in the text, that is pollution, stress, makeup, etc.).

It contains algae, sesame oil, yeast, calcium, magnesium, eucalyptus oil, sunflower, caffeine, xylinum black tea ferment, etc. to make your eye contour more beautiful and to moisturize it.

Quick tip: A mix of Serum and foundation for a beautiful and soft skin ready for Makeup

In Skincare on April 11, 2011 at 1:55 am

I love mixing foundation with one or two drops of serum. My serum is (I confess) the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I mix it with my foundation (mostly mac studio sculpt and Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (in winter) and sheer mat foundation (in summer even though I prefer the glow one). I was surprise to read that talented Tom Pecheux advices to do the same on Vogue France. It makes your skin natural. I love sheer coverage and always found the mix of serum and foundation makes my skin be soft and natural. Do it on your face already moisturized and prep-primed — of course. I basically do the same for my eyes mixing prep+prime and a tiny drop of serum for eye, and of course from Estée Lauder. I would like to try (I mean I am planning to try) Crème de la mer the radiant serum.

Estée Lauder DayWear

In Skincare on April 11, 2011 at 1:32 am

I did not want to include skincare since I usually do mine. Yet, Saturday I was happy to receive a sample of Estée Lauder DayWear from Estée Lauder France. I usually wear Estée Lauder Hydrationist when I don’t have self-made cream anymore. I have my own skincare products that I do not sell for various reasons. When finished I go back to my precious Estée Lauder Hydrationist. This time this was the so-called DayWear. This cream is dedicated to normal to combination skin — which I am not.

As it is noted in the packaging, DayWear is an “advanced moisturizer to defend against signs of premature aging-and diminish their appearance”. It also is the most effective anti-oxidant power ever, as it is announced. It contains Vitamins C and E, Coenzime Q10, Kinetin, Alpha-lipoic Acid, and Idebenone, among others. I usually use Vitamins C and E as well as Cenzime Q10 which I find wonderful on skin. However I do not know these Kinetine, Alpha-lipoic acid and idebenone. Anyway, the product is very silky so I am wondering if silk powder has been used to make the texture so soft and silky.

I advice to use this cream in spring to prepare your skin for summer, I mean bronzing. Anti-Oxydants help protect skin from pollution, stress, so forth. It is also great to prepare your skin against UV rays and helps skin to keep looking younger and longer. It is also a great moisturizer if you daily do makeup

I do not use this sample in my entire face in that I have a special skin, meaning dry to combination skin. In fact, my T-Zone, my neck and some parts of my face are normal to combination skin and other parts are dry, if not dry and deshydrated. I decided to focus on some parts which are more normal to combination skin. This cream is a miracle, very soft, if not “silky”. I really appreciate the result on my T-Zone. I’ll buy it and will be oblige to purchase two cream one for normal/combination skin and the second one for dry skin.

Estée Lauder DayWear

Do I recommend it? Yes of course. If you want to have a healthy face for summer, I will warmly recommend this cream. Unfortunatly for ladies with combination to oily skin or with very oily skin, no cream for you… for now…

DayWear is available for women with:

Normal/Combination Skin creme is lightweight and silky, with just the right balance of richness and refreshment

and…

Dry Skin creme comforts and cushions with soothing emollients and a luscious texture. Also ideal for colder, drier climates.

I will review as much as possible on skincare even though this blog is not dedicated to skincare.
